During workshops for beginners, we will go over the basics of Japanese calligraphy. Workshop contents include:

-Japanese calligraphy history and tools
-How to hold and control the brush
-Basic brush technique
-The possibilities of sumi ink
-Express yourself with the brush and ink
-How to write kanji characters
-Write your new year resolution on a big long calligraphy paper with a big brushWe will work on "Kakizome", new year's resolution writing with a brush which is one of the Japanese new year tradition.

Writing down helps achieving your goals, and it's a good reminder to yourself.Everybody is welcome – no calligraphy experience or Japanese language skills are necessary. All supplies are included as rental, so no need to bring anything. Just bring yourself and curiosity!
