Collage I: 20th Century Art in the Making (MMED232-36)

This hands-on course gives an overview of the history of collage in the 20th century and will include projects based on various movements such as cubism, dada, surrealism, abstract expressionism, pop art, minimalism, conceptual art and post-modernism. Methods will include paper collage, photomontage, photo transfer and other mixed media techniques. Projects will be supplemented with visual presentations and weekly critiques. Suitable for beginners. Recommended Textbook: Taylor, Brandon, Collage: The Making of Modern Art, Thames and Hudson (2006).
