Yoga teachers of all traditions, doulas, midwives, movement guides, nurses, doctors, childbirth educators, health care professionals and all people wanting to deepen their knowledge of yoga in pregnancy and of themselves.
This in depth program will give you a rich understanding of yoga during the childbearing year and beyond. It will deepen self-knowledge and foster fierce personal growth.
Elevating, guiding and growing with prenatal students during this time of profound transformation is the most inspiring and rewarding experience. There is also no need to commit to teaching pregnant people after the course-some folks simply join for personal healing.WHAT DOES THIS TRAINING PROVIDE?
-A deep understanding of the SPECIFIC Yoga Asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra and yoga philosophy that is most supportive and relevant to pregnant folks-How to hold space and choose conscious language to create a safer space for pregnant folks.-Prenatal anatomy including important teachings about the pelvic bowl-Physiologial-hormonal-postural changes in each stage of pregnancy-The yogic model of the Koshas-increasing our awarenesss of the vast experiences of pregnant folks- and how to support them emotionally-energetically, spiritually in pregnancy-Restorative yoga for pregnancy.-Bhandas and Vayus related to pregnancy.-Pregnancy Discomforts and Yogic Support.-Exploring Goddesses of Hindu Mythology and how to weave in their teachings to classes.-Yogic Contraindications and how to guide with more care and adaptations.-Consciousness of babies.-Trauma Inclusive language for teaching pregnant folks.-Gender Inclusive language for guiding prenatal yoga.-A framework from yoga therapy for supporting students MORE specifically in their needs.-How to teach prenatal yoga from a foundation of Consent and enforcing autonomy and sovereignty.-An opportunity for the deep personal work necessary to holding space for anyone.-How to create and structure classes-How to support pregnant folks in regular classesMeet Your TeacherI am an Italian-Scottish queer womxn (she/they) living and working on unceded land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.For over 25 years I have served communities locally and abroad as a full spectrum doula, celebrant, yoga therapist, grief doula and ritual healing guide-supporting people in thresholds and transitions, in birth, pregnancy, postpartum, holding vigil, living funerals, weddings, death, rites of passage.
I train folks to become fuller spectrum doulas and trauma inclusive-feminist yoga teachers and work to ground my practice in the values of anti-oppression, anti-racism, anti-white supremacy, liberation and intersectional feminism.I am committed to a life long journey of doing the work necessary and using my place of privilege to support a world that is safer, more inclusive and just.
