Hours: Tu - Sat, 12-5LYSE LEMIEUX studied at the University of Ottawa (1973–1975) and the University of British-Columbia (1976–1978) where she received a BFA (1978). She has exhibited nationally and internationally including the Canadian Cultural Centre in Rome, the Vancouver Art Gallery and Oakville Galleries in Toronto. Recent solo exhibitions include, Painted Drawings; Wil Aballe Art Projects, Vancouver (2019); FULL FRONTAL, No Fixed Abode,SFU Galleries Burnaby Campus (2019-2020), Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2017-18); A Girls Gotta Do What A Girls Gotta Do, Richmond Art Gallery (2016); Black Is The Size Of My New Skirt, Republic Gallery, Vancouver (2015); In-Between-In-Between: Lyse Lemieux & Meryl McMaster, Katzman Contemporary, Toronto (2015). Participation in recent group exhibitions include, Some Kind Of Behaviour: Robin Arseneault, Allison Hrabluik, Lyse Lemieux, Terminal Creek Contemporary (2019); Vancouver Special: Ambivalent Pleasures, Vancouver Art Gallery (2016–2017); Aujourd’hui Encore, Trépanier Baer Gallery (2016); Out of Line, Oakville Galleries (2015) and Cut & Paste, Equinox Gallery (2012). Based in Vancouver Lemieux is involved in developing public art projects, one of which was recently completed in Vancouver and another which is scheduled for completion later this spring in Vancouver. She has received numerous awards from the BC Arts Council and the Canada Council and is the 2017 recipient of the prestigious VIVA Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Visual Arts awarded annually by the Doris and Jack Shadbolt Foundation for the Visual Arts. Upcoming exhibitions include an exhibition surveying Lemieux’s comprehensive drawing practice at the Burnaby Art Gallery in June of this year.
