Leash-Free Boarding: It’s Only Natural
Created to put dogs first, the Bowen Island Dog Ranch is a leash-free boarding and training destination serving all of Greater Vancouver. The Ranch itself, situated on Bowen Island in spectacular Howe Sound, is a tranquil five-acre rural property where dogs can fulfill their natural instincts—to freely explore the outdoors, play with other dogs and enjoy constant human companionship while you are away. Dog nirvana is just a short and scenic 20-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver.

Over a Decade of Speaking Dog
Opening in 2007, the Bowen Island Dog Ranch has since then welcomed thousands of canine guests to join our special world of dog-centred love and fun.

That’s when Karen Munro, a business owner looking for a change, discovered on Bowen Island the ideal property to build her new vision. Combining a passion for excellence with her lifelong love of dogs, Karen worked to shape the Dog Ranch into what it is today: a leash-free, fun-filled, caring and compassionate, highly professional full-service boarding destination—now well known across Greater Vancouver.

Karen and her remarkable team have won many fans for their “dogs first” philosophy, and take pride in “speaking dog”. (Yes, it’s definitely a thing here.) They are devoted to ensuring every dog at the Ranch is healthy and safe—and having a blast—every day of the year.

Reserving and Getting Here
We welcome your dogs by reservation, and offer these four options for you to transport them the Ranch:

• Make an appointment to meet our Vancouver City Shuttle at any of 3 locations: In North Vancouver, West Vancouver or Downtown Vancouver, (for pick up or return). Cost is $23-27 per trip which is cheaper than driving on the ferry yourself!
• Take BC Ferries by car from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island, and drive directly to the Dog Ranch on Adams Road (please see Dog Ranch Hours before planning your trip). Cost is $30 per trip for one car with driver with a BC Ferries Experience Card. Without a BC Ferries Experience Card it’s approximately $54.
• Take BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay as a foot passenger (the ferry has a pet area on the car deck). By appointment, we’ll shuttle your dog to the Ranch from Snug Cove. We will meet you at the Passenger Pick Up on Cardena Road, meeting the arrival of the 10:15 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. ferries. Island Shuttle cost is $12 per trip.
• For Bowen Island dogs: Book the Island Shuttle, and we will pick up and/or drop off your pet to and from Day Camp or Boarding experiences anywhere on the Island. Shuttle cost is $5 – 7 per trip.
